Highly appreciated and recognized as a laudable venture declared important nation building project by Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Briefly; teaching of scholastic journalism had started in most developed countries prior to the closing century. The theoretical learning process advanced with knowledge and technical advancement. In Pakistan, even, so far, there had been no implementation of education policies, and consequently no meaningful education. The study of journalism was given absolutely no importance. Its education started upside down. First after about a decade from creation of Pakistan a department of M. A. Journalism was opened by University of Punjab followed by some others as M.A Journalism or M.Sc. Mass Communication, long time after, the subject of journalism was introduced in few countable degree colleges as optional.
In 1992 National Institute of Journalism was founded at Islamabad by a highly qualified and life long experienced working journalist Mr. Ilyas Chaudhry to set right this important subject by providing a strong foundation to build a durable super-structure, in the fourth pillar of state. It is the duty of all good men to come to join the efforts for the lofty ideals of making Pakistan strong with civilized society, equipped with informative knowledge and awareness.
